What were the crazy styled hot wheels cars with the monster drivers from the 1970s called?
Question presented by a reader: In the 1970s Hot Wheels had a line of cars with crazy zany styles and oversized monsterlike drivers. What was this line called? They were like the Ed Roth Rat Fink cartoons. I collected them as a child but can't remember what they were called.

They weren't Hot Wheels. The closest things they had were Zowees and Farbs. Ed Roth's Beatnik Bandit was one of the original 16 Hot Wheels, but didn't feature any figures. I haven't seen any small scale cars from that era of Ed Roth style. I know the larger model kits were quite popular. There was also a series of trading cards called "Odd Rods".
